Western Inspired / Inspiracion Vaquera

Hey Y’all!

Im going to go ahead and say rodeo season is in Chicago, .. Two weeks ago we had the PBR and not too far behind, on the first weekend in February we have the PCB. While we wait for the PCB, I wanted to give you gals some outfit inspiration. I’ll show y ‘all two outfits, the first one is this Western Chic inspired look and stay tune later this week for the second outfit..

If you follow me on social media you will know that I have been on a serious hat “obsession.” I love hats, of all types of styles.. I have one that is super bold, yellow color, that I have not worn. In the back of my mind im always thinking if it might be too flashy! I am going to be bold and bring you an outfit with my bright yellow hat soon. In the mean time here is my take on a chic/western outfit.

On most of my outfits theres some type of femininity/glamour that I like to convey. This one is perfect for any rodeo events. It has that western vibe; with the wide legged striped culottes, the pointy boots and the very cute Charlie 1 Horse hat. This outfit in made up of earth tones which is why there’s shades of black, brown, beige and white. These colors look so well together in all shades. My favorite thing about this outfit is the pattern combination. As soon as you look at the outfit your eyes focus on the striped pants and the snake print shirt. There is something about the similar colors, that blends the patterns together and looks unified. The other things I love is this hat. You can wear it with all sorts of outfits, not just your western inspired one. It a nice beige color, it will matches everything you would want to wear.

Vest: Calvin Klein (similar option)
Snake Print Crop Top: Target
Culottes: Discovery Co. (similar option)
Boots: Payless
Hat: Charlie 1 Horse

One of the things I love to show you gals is how you can wear a piece of clothing in many outfits. The vest for this outfit I previously used it on this post. It went from being worn in a glam look to a western look.. The other thing I wore in a different post here, were these pointy boots. I love the style. The shape and color of the heel makes me think of the disco times in the 70’s. I am a huge fan of pointy shoes, this was a huge plus to the boots.  Don’t underestimate how good the clothing would look in different styles.

¡Hola Chicas!

Chaleco: Calvin Klein (opcion similar)
Blusa con estampado: Target
Pantalones: Discovery Co. (opcion similar)
Botas: Payless
Sombrero: Charlie 1 Horse

Be different! Enjoy life!
Se diferente! Disfruta la vida!

Gudalajara Lookbook

Here is another outfit diary, this time from my trip to Jalisco. Visited Guadalajara, Herradura train and Tlaquepaque. When ever I travel I like to look at Instagram and get a vibe of what that place is. Artsy, country, city, luxury ect. Then I check to see what the main activities are and what restaurants are the best in the area. Finally I go through my closet and pick out things go with my findings. I do this because it gets me super excited for my trips and its such a fun way to incorporate fashion into your “must do things” to get ready for a trip. I hope you guys enjoy the options as much as I did wearing them. Lets hope some outfits inspires yours for your next trip.

Details:
This outfit was perfect for the occasion. The weather was cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon, hence why I wore this super cute structured cardigan. It was made out of a cool material which did not bother me all day. It was so airy I felt super comfortable in it. The skirt was one of the pieces I was excited about because the structure of it and the material just looked perfect. A big plus.. I am really digging that olive/military green so of course this one had to be one of my favorite pieces. This crop top was the perfect color to bring out all the peach/orange from the cardigan. The crop top and skirt made the perfect combination to make me look taller. The perfect illusion!

Detalles:

I pared this outfit with some super amazing booties from Payless. They are more like boot mules because the back part was exposed but had a pointy front, which again played a big role in making me look taller. The heel in this bootie was so comfortable, it was perfect for all the amount of walking we did. Didn’t get tired one bit. My Kate Spade bag was the only purse I took on the trip, which is why I choose a color that would go with all my outfits and one that was not too big but fit everything I needed. It was also very handy that it was a cross over purse because of all the walking we had to do. I would not want to hold a big purse for this type of day. Last but not least is this AMAZING hat from Charlie 1 Horse. This hat is from their 2019 season hat collection, I don’t think you can buy them yet. My hat guy offered it to me and I had to have it. The colors are also perfectly neutral they go well with anything and of course would look great in one of those agave fields.

Combinacion:

Details:
Since we were going to learn and visit the entire historic center , I wanted to wear something comfortable and breeze. Believe it or not this is a dress I wore about a year ago for my birthday. It is such a beautiful dress and it is so light weight I knew I had to bring it with me. The dress is super flowy and it has such amazing statements, the color stitching and the bell sleeves. It was super simple but perfect.

Detalles:

Besides the fact that I was running late for the tour and had to get ready in 30min, I also wanted to keep the outfit super simple. I read a lot of blogs that said not to wear flashy clothes and to tone it down, the same guidelines you would follow when you go to a place you don’t know. On this trip again since walking was one of the main activities, I took my payless sandals. I cant stress enough how comfy they are, I wore them on my Greece trip too. To match my shoes I paired it with my Kate Spade bag, again super practical and matches everything. Lastly to keep it neutral I topped this outfit with a gray necklace made out of two marble gray crystal.

Combinacion:

Details:
After a long day of walking around town and sight seeing, this comfy cotton top was perfect. The crisscross pattern hugged my waist perfectly and the v-neckline  was chic but also created the illusion of length (making me look a little taller). This blouse was casual but with the accessories it dressed it up a bit, making it not look bland. The jeans were high waisted and had ripped parts that was the perfect combination to go with this shirt. The high waist came up right underneath the shirt which was perfect combination ( and another chance for the illusion of length).  The white shirt and jeans is such an American outfit staple but with a twist. Crop fitted top and ripped high waisted jeans, my favorite travel uniform.

Detalles:

Paired it with:
Since the outfit was very minimalistic I wanted my accessories to pop. These pom pom earrings are from a year ago, but they are still in style and are great accent pieces. The earrings were two shades of blue, which matched the jeans and decided to wear another neutral color for my shoes. I kept the pom pom theme on my sandals. They were some cute  gladiator sandals with lots of different color pom poms. The accessories definitely stood out on a very neutral color outfit. We could not forget my black Kate Spade purse.

Combinacion:

One of the outfits that took a lot of self love talk for me to put on. So I bought this shirt in SheIn and I believe it only cost me $6 and the reviews were magnificent. It is a wrapped crop top. Very chic, very sexy, very fashionable. First of all I love everything wrap, it just looks great on my body. This style of clothing looks very good on us curvy women because it accentuates our waist area and hugs our hips very nicely. The sleeves to this shirt were bell-a-licious (yes I made up my own word for sleeves). The were a very nice bell sleeve which was a great design option since the rest of the top was close to the body. The neckline was a little risqué. Very low V but nothing you can’t manage when you are wrapping and tying the shirt. Now lets talk color, it has been one of my favorite, the mustardy yellow looked perfect in this mock satin. The flower patter made the yellow stand out even more since it was in shades of white and pink.  I decided to pair it with some high waisted beige shorts that had a very subtle effect of glitter. These were so cute and perfect for the shirt to stand out more because of its neutral color. Besides these shorts were super comfortable which was great for a day of walking. These are also perfect for my wide thigh, no thigh gap ladies. The shorts leg was wide and comfortable, it was very roomy, which is not always the case with some shorts. Also the beauty about them is that you could fold them up if you wanted them to be shorter or give them a different look.

Detalles:

Of course I had to paired this outfit with my black strappy sandals. I swear these sandals are the best, I have taken them with me on every trip ive taken so far. They seriously do feel like walking on clouds. Besides the comfines they also match the color scheme I was going for. So glad it matched my Kate Spade purse. These two things are becoming a staple item to all of my travel outfits.

Combinacion:

Details:
A very blue outfit to a very happy trip (hahaha, get it?!). The shirt for this outfit has been one of my favorite. Being a crop top it had such amazing structure and detailing. The color was also very nice, like a light blue. For this shirt I decided to tie it at the front for to hug my waist instead of handing loose in its boxy design. The perfect ensemble for a nighttime, casual dinner outing. Again the jeans were high waited which was the perfect length for my shirt. This was the perfect outfit to end our mini vacation in Guadalajara. It was chic enough!

Detalles:

IMG_3236
Paired it with:
For this one I paired it with my favorite black strappy sandals and the black purse. I feel like even though my shoes were sandals the black color made them look very tidy and not too casual. I cant stress enough how much these sandals have saved my life while traveling, in between all the tours and walking on our own these were perfect.

Combinacion:

Santorinis Lookbook

Hey Gals,

Since I don’t think you gals have heard enough about Santorini (lol) let me share with you what I wore. If you haven’t read my Santorini Itinerary click this link and take a look! Well lets dive right in. I visited Santorini the last week of July, just so you can get a good idea of what the weather there was. It wasn’t unbearable but it was hot, the sun shines bright during the day but it was not cold, like some people suggested, during the night. My outfits were all super comfy, chic and light fabrics.

Outfit 1: Vintage two piece
Brand: Target
Color: light blue with mustard yellow flowers
Trip dets: Trip to Oia
Details:
This outfit is a two piece. The bottom part is a very flowy skirt with a small waistband and ruffles. The skirt goes from midi in the front to long in the back. When you grab the skirt it feel heavy, if I had to guess why, it would be from all the pleats on top and the bottom to make it as flowy as it is. The shirt of this set is a “crop top”  in the same color and print as the skirt. The shirt has an elastic neckline that goes off the shoulders. It also has some buttons as decoration in the front. The crop top also has an elastic hem line, which makes the shirt flowy. I wore this shirt to our trip to Oia because this outfit just seemed dreamy to me. Since we thought we would be walking all the way thee it also was super airy.

I decided to pair this with some super comfy white shoes from Payless, that I found for $10. The white made this outfit brighter and livelier. One of my favorite accessories was this Stetson hat. Its like a light gray color (similar one) and the hat band was the same white and blue you find on the streets of Oia. For my last accessories was this straw bag we are seeing everywhere. It’s from Shein and it looked amazing, surprisingly it can fit a lot of stuff in it. My second favorite accessory are these hope tassel earrings from Payless as well. They are the perfect statement piece and they matched my hat.

Outfit 2:  Santorini boho Chic
Brand:
Top- TjMaxx
Pants- Target (lots of similar ones)
Color:
Top: white
Pants: Green with a pink and white flower pattern
Trip dets: Visiting the Monostary
Details:
This one was one of my favorite outfits because the bell bottom long pants made me look like I was taller! The fabric was so breathable, I felt amazing in these pants. The design of them was so cute and girly with out making me look like I was trying to be boho! Lol. The pants had an elastic waistband with string which was great incase I wanted to over indulge (hahaha) They had to types of patterns and went to well together. There were bigger flowers on the main pants area and smaller flowers in some slits the pants had. The top was a crochet tank top in a white pearly color. It is a super pretty crop top and super comfortable. Even though it was crochet the material was super soft.  These two just came together perfectly.

This outfit since we were doing walking I paired it with my strappy black sandals from Payless. These sandals were so comfy they kind of felt like they had memory foam! Wore them every time I could. The next accessory were these colorful tassel earrings. I really didn’t want to wear sun glasses but I had taken these aviator look alike fake glasses. I felt like it just made the outfit perfect. Lastly I cant forget the straw purse. I’m telling you gals it is perfect!!

Outfit 3:Touristy Chic one piece
Brand: Burlington
Color: white and black detailing
Trip dets: Fira @ night
Details:
You can say this was a midi one piece. The pants came a little above my ankles with a little wide leg. They were mostly white with black graphic stripes. The top of the one piece is off the shoulder with a decorative elastic neck line and very flowy 3/4 sleeves. Perfect sleeve size for summer. The top of the one piece had the same type of design, except there were a lot more stripes. The neck line came in to a V but had zigzag strings. On the waist area both pieces came together with a small elastic waistband. This feature made the top of the one piece look a little more flowy. Perfect for a laid back afternoon. The one piece had a lining which I liked because if not this would have been a super sheer ensemble.

Since we were going to do some walking around I decided to wear my comfy black strappy sandals from outfit 3. Since I used this outfit for a late outing I used my very glamourous fanny pack (lol). It was an oval shape, black with a cute graphic of birds and flowers. The size was perfect for carrying the essentials: small wallet, phone, lipstick and portable charger. I wanted to add a pop of color so I tied this vibrant orange red with blue designs headband around my hand. The outfit just looked so laid back but put together. Its like when you see a models street style pictures.

Outfit 4: Bee Vreeland Inspired (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants)
Brand: Target
Color:
Top- orange with colorful flowers
Bottom: Dark wash jean skirt
Vest: Military green
Trip dets: Archeological site
Details:
This is my first jean skirt ever since I was a teenager. Sometimes they don’t always fit great or don’t really hug the right parts of your body, but this one was amazing! The design is so simple yet so fashionable. To begin with it has a frayed hem, which if we are seeing in pants it is only right to see it on skirts. The front is has some light wash around the thigh area. Perfect for some color variation. This shirt is so cute! It reminded me of the elastic shirts my mom would buy my sister and me when we were little.  This is an elastic crop top with  short sleeves. The shirt goes a little of the shoulders, it gives it an extra sexiness to it. It is super stretchy and comfy, I loved wearing it. I had bought this vest on sale when I first found out I was going to Santorini because I had read about this Archeological site and it literally reminded me of the one Bee wore except hers was beige. This one was still perfect. The vest hits right below the waist with a pull string hem line. If I wanted for the vest to hit my above my hips I would just pull on it and tie it. I could also zip it up and pull on the string to make it more puffy at the top and could wear it as a “shirt vest” (obviously with a tube top underneath or something. My favorite thing were these big pockets it had in the front. It definitely helps you look smaller, since they are so big.. All about proportions, it can be a big asset.

Since I wanted to keep an “archeological” vibe (if that’s a thing lol) I paired it with my Payless sandals, similar to burking stocks, in the color nude. These bad boys are so comfortable I couldn’t get enough. When I wear them it makes me feel like a cool sexy mom lol. Really digging them! Of course I could forget my chic fanny pack, since I wore it around my hips it broke off all the color combinations going on in the outfit. The design on the fanny brought out more of that red. Toped this outfit with my timeless brown watch.

Outfit 5: Everything wrapped looks good!
Brand: She In
Color:
Multi dark colors
Black blue purple red white
Trip dets: Sunset dinner
Details:
My favorite kind of dress is a wrap dress and this one is amazing. I had seen this one a blogger I follow and she looked amazing in it, I loved the fit, so I found it online and bought it. If you are buying from Shein for the first time I would read the reviews on the product for sizing purposes. I love when the wrap dresses have and actual V-neck line, its just super flattering. These long sleeves are not uncomfortable, they are pretty loose and they are not too long. The don’t bother your when you are doing things, like some item of clothing when the sleeve surpasses my hand lol. At the end of the sleeve and at the hem of the dress there is some very cute ruffles, it gives it that flirty girly girl look. The print of the dress went vertical which gives illusion of tallness, Perfect for my shorties out there. It is a super fun  (in a very subtle way), sexy and playful dress.

img_8863
Paired it with:
All the color on the dress I wanted to break it off with my White slip on shoes from payless. They are so comfy, clean likes and brought out the white from the dress. Since I used this dress for a sunset dinner at super cute restaurant I had to wear these amazing beige tassel earing from payless. Lastly I wore a body chain on my chest area to make the V-neck pop in a sexy way.

Outfit 6: Get my Greek on 2 piece set
Brand: Target
Color: White with  blue designs
Trip dets: Morning stroll through Firostephani
Details:
When I first saw this two piece ( way before I knew I was going to Greece) I though this would be an amazing set for a Greece vacation.. And what do you know the following week I was buying the entire set for this vacation. The world works in a mysterious way. Overall this set is very comfy and flattering. These shorts were adorable, they had two pleats in the front and some amazing pockets, which if you have a little tummy like me, this is a great camouflager for that gut area. Again super comfy set because of the elastic waistband. The shirt is a crop top, a little more boxy style but still super cute. Short sleeves and a crew neckline, super fan of them. Makes the look more sophisticated. The best part was the fabric. it was very soft and breathable. In love! The other amazing part was the design super pretty and intricate. Because of the design this two piece reminded me of Greece so much.

Since this outfit was all about capturing the white and blue colors from Santorini, I had to wear my slip on white shoes from payless. They are so comfortable and such a cute design. I cant forget my straw bag once more. I have to say it really is my favorite bag, plus I had gotten it specifically for this trip so I had to use it all the time. Don’t you think?

Outfit 7: Weird length but cute one piece
Brand: Target
Color: Multicolor-green and pinks (other cute options)
Trip dets: Donkey & Cable ride
Details:
I know it’s a weird length but it looks so cute!! I was a little worried how it would look on me. I thought the length was going to be a problem. It turned out to be just fine. So this one  piece has spaghetti strap, which was perfect since it was a little hotter that day. My favorite part about the top part, its that it had a little opening, below the cleavage area and a cute little bow. It was just super girly! At the stripes curved inward into the opening which makes you look smaller. The pants have the same color stripes and the design run horizontal which makes us shorties look taller. If you haven’t notice I love piece that make me look taller.  The wide legged pants remind me of the culottes pants everyone was wearing not tool long ago. They are ankle length and the wide leg pants are super adorable and feminine.

When I was thinking of pairing this jumpsuit I choose my white and pastel colorful adidas sneakers (other options). We were going to be walking a lot and I didn’t want to be tired plus they are super comfy. Since I wanted to keep it simple and flirty I had to use my Shein straw bag. Also when in Greece you use straw bags all the time. Next was my favorite hat from Stetson, it was the perfect combination and covered my face from the beaming sun! I can’t forget about all my cute little statement rings, definitely a plus.

Outfit 8: 3 Words- Sexy Sexy Sexy
Brand: Amazon
Color: Blue base with tan and white stripes
Outfit dets: Last dinner in Santorini
Details:
The sexiest thing I have ever worn and I found it on Amazon. There comes a point in life when you also want to look sexy because we were all given the chance to be and act attractive. Theres a difference about being sexy and being bulger. Again when in Greece try new things. This dress had a lot of cut offs. The cleavage area had a huge section cut off. There was a draw string design, it seemed as if that was the waist band, it onnected the top part to the bottom. The skirt section had two very high splits. I recommend wearing a bikini bottom just incase the wind decided to play a Madeline Monroe moment lol. The length is up to your ankles so its perfect to wear flat shoes.. Though I did feel different with this number on, we all have to try something out of the ordinary once in a while. It was such a cute dress I couldn’t get over it. I’m so happy I bought it! #founditonamazon

img_9161
Paired it :
I wore this dress to our last dinner, so I opted for my black comfy sandals. I wore these again because they  literally feel like walking on a cloud. These sandals went perfectly for my street wear kind of look, I was going for. Again I couldn’t forget the straw bag, gave the dress a nice casual look to it and it also brought out the beige on the dress. To finish off the look I wore my brown Timex watch. Just to add a little extra I wore my hoop tassel earing. Perfect combination!

These have been by far my favorite outfit I’ve taken on trips! They all went along with the colors and vibes of Santorini, it was amazing. I really didn’t spend a lot of money on these pieces either. They all came from clearance racks or used coupon codes. Whenever I travel and want to build new outfits, I check out the clearance section, because we are still in summer and stores change inventory quickly so there’s always something cute you can purchase with out breaking the bank. Specially if you want to save money for your trip. Also ALWAYS check to see if they have coupons for what you are buying!

Birthday EXPLOTION/ EXPLOSION de cumpleanos

Hey Gals,

Today is my birthday, the big 2 4! I wanted to write something a little different, 4 things I have learned about life. I’m not the most knowledgeable about life and I don’t know everything but I do know these things.  Some of these may seem harsh but life is too short to worry about what everyone says. Of course there is lots more things to learn and I hope with the years I keep making mistakes (just a little) and learning from them. Keep reading to see what I have learn these past years!

Professionally:
Don’t be afraid to work in a field you didn’t study. We make a decision in college base on things that we like or careers that we think will pay us the most. Once you get out to the real world, some find their dream job and some don’t. Regardless we have to pay bills and find something to do and it might have a little something to do with what you have learned in college. If its not your field then you’ll get the chance to learn something new and expand your resume. You never know your dream job might just be waiting for you to get a little more experience.

Family:
Oh this topic.. Some might disagree with me but I know most of you can relate. We all have family members that instead of having your best interest, they just want to stab you in the back or they might be talking mad S**t behind your back. Lol you know who you are. Well these toxic people make others see the worst in you when in reality you’re not. Don’t be afraid to cut them out, you’ll feel free and live a more carefree life. If you don’t want to cut them out completely then  keep your distance, even when they are in the room. Sometimes they make us worry too much about things that we know are not true. Don’t give them that POWER!

Love:
Touchy subject. There’s no such thing as being meant to be, we all get told these fairy tale stories, and dream of that Cinderella love but I’ve learned that it’s a choice who you want to be with. It’s as simple as that. If that person has the best interest in you and pushes you to be the best even though they might be putting some dreams of their own behind. Don’t be selfish, reciprocate that love. Make the best choice for both of you. It’s choosing your partner over and over again  even after you disagree and working together to fix the situation. Its leaning and growing and choosing each other every time. Find someone that is not afraid to tackle a difficult situation and fix it as a couple. Learn from those experiences and grow together!

Character:
Don’t apologies for who you are. NEVER!! Even thought some people might not like you, or disagree with how you are. You don’t have to please everyone. The ones that love you for who you are will stick around and make it to the end. We were all meant to be different and have our own voice so don’t waist your time copying others.

As a bonus I will add one more. I’m going to keep it short.

Friendships:
Some of your best friends from High School and even college wont make it to the end of your story! Some of those friends are just meant to walk through your life and show you some life lessons for later times.

I know that you have heard these things before, specially in this era, I know I have. Speaking from these 24 years of life experience these are all true. Times have changed and not everyone is who they say they are. Don’t waist your time trying to please everyone because you will never catch up.

Hola Chicas,

Voy a mantenerlo corto.

Amistades:

I’m a FIRECRACKER

Hey Gals!

I’m back with some super cute accessories from target to finish of your look for the Fourth of July. What better day than to wear those red, white and blue loud and proud! (On this day it’s also my birthday, so thank you for celebrating it! Lol) These accessories are so versatile, inexpensive and cute! Without further ado let me introduce you the two outfits.

For my casual, BBQ day kind of gals I have chosen this grayish/whitish t-shirt dress from target (concidentially). It’s super comfortable for a hot day outside. Paired it with these cute blue strappy sandals. The little block heel is so perfect for someone that wants to look semi-dressy but also comfortable. The color of these sandals is such a perfect royal blue. It’s the perfect combination to enjoy your time with family and friends lighting up some sparkles.

For my hot mamacitas, this Calvin Klein vest dress was the way to go! If your going out to do a little dancing or a nice boat dinner to see the fireworks, this look would be perfect. You would definitely look apart. For this dress , these cute little vibrant red “sock boot” stand out and go perfect! These boots are from target except I found them in the clearance section (seriously this section and I are best friends). They do have some really cute strappy red sandals that would look great too, if your target doesn’t have these booties. If you happen to find some from another store well that would be perfect too.

For both outfits I used the same accessories. First is this adorable popsicle bag! It is patriotic AF, I had to have it. Granted it won’t fit a lot of things but for the necessities it would work just fine. Its takes you back to those childhood days without making you look like a little girl. I had to put a little bling so I chose these SUGARFIX red tassel earrings. They are SOO perfect and make such a statement. Lastly I topped it off with these super cute red framed sunglasses because it’s sunny outside, so of course, we needed something for that! These glasses are a perfect inbetween of vintage and modern, don’t you think?

These were all affordable pieces I bought and as far as the dresses you can find some very affordable options like: this vest dress from Forever 21 , this t-shirt dress from Forever 21  or these amazing selections from MissGuided .

Swimsuits, Thoughts & Lots of Self-Love

Hey Gals

A little self-love talk on another level. On my resent trip to Jamaica (click here for resort review) I went out of my norm and wore some super cute/flirty swimsuit. You won’t believe me but I most certainly have insecurities about my body image. I would have never worn a cut out suit or low cut for that matter. I am not a single digit size gal and I have a little role here and there and I think viewing these things as a defect it put a damper on how I viewed me. Another thing that I believe takes a toll,  on us gals, is our femininity and sexiness. I thought that because of my figure I had to hide behind boring/ oversized clothes and that is the total opposite of who I want to be. It’s so easy for us, gals, to lose ourselves because of how we look. That is one mistake I will not be doing again! While on my trip to Jamaica I had the time to reflect on myself and see myself differently. It was such an amazing and relaxing experience, it was exactly what I needed to realize some stuff.

Now that I’ve done some thinking and reflecting on myself, I realize, (and everyone else should too) I have to embrace my body and feel confident because if you are ok with it then it doesn’t matter what anybody thinks or says. We all have blemishes so don’t hide them flaunt them, because they make us who we are.  Speaking from my experience, once you start loosing sight of how beautiful you are and look back at it, you can’t explain to yourself why you let those thoughts consume you. When I look back I regret giving up that part of me that makes me unique, our femininity. We are each sexy in our own way; the way we dress, act, our attitude etc. I feel like this is the way we show who we are, sexiness its not juts about flirting but wearing something cute or feeling secure about yourself and projecting that. That is the thing that makes you unique! You may also be the one that puts yourself down with your comments about your body or appearance thinking that’s what the others ONLY see, but I’m 99% sure that your family, friends, significant other or strangers are not looking out for that. When you are ok with how you look and who you are you project something more powerful than that negative image of you that you have in your head. What makes you, you is the way you are,  your attitude, the way you carry  yourself. We have to look in the mirror and tell ourselves, “WE ARE BEAUTIFUL!”

Like I said this trip to Jamaica felt like it brought something inside of me that I had forgotten I had. It all started with me thinking that I should be confident in myself and how I look and get cute swim suits like everyone else. I took a leap of faith and bought a cut out swimm suit from Target that I loved. I knew that once I bought it and packed it there was no going back. I also bought one from Walmart, super colorful and it had a low V-cut in the front and one from Kmart, it had polka dots and low cut from the back. These were all grown up one pieces that I loved and was very nervous about wearing them. The first day in Jamaica I wore the colorful one from Walmart, something flirty but not over board. I looked myself in the mirror and said exactly what I told yall to say, “I am beautiful.” Before when I would wear one pieces my main goal was to hide the pouch I have, so it would be very decorative in my abdominal area but this one was just straight forward not hiding anything. I was so nervous thinking everyone would just stare at my pouch.. I myself repeated that wonderful phrase in my head and it worked! I felt what I was saying, I went to the pool and had and amazing time. The second day I wore my favorite one, which was the cut out one from Target. This one I just thought it was sexy and flirty. For this one I was oh so scared to wear it but I got compliments on it and by this day I was confident enough in myself I didn’t even think twice before putting it on. My initial thoughts as I stared at it where, my little fat from the side is going to stick out, everyone is going to be able to see my stretch marks but I was soo wrong! Yes you could see my stretch marks but those stripes were ready to get a tan and I my thighs looked amazing so I paid no attention. The last swim suit was the polka dot one from Kmart, this one I considered it so flirty I loved it. The butt section was some what revealing and I would have never thought about wearing something this short cut but by this day I was feeling confident in myself. I think about what others would think or say about me but in the end I looked amazing and focused on my first trip to Jamaica. This experience was amazing. I felt like the Dlo I once was and it was amazing! I think sometimes we are all in our heads and start to believe what others tell us, which is why I am a great believer in the power of traveling and taking time for yourself. It puts things in perspective! I hope that you all got a little perspective of why loving yourself the way you are is important to you! Fuck what everyone thinks, BE YOU!

Highlight Spring…

Hello Gals!

Spring time huh?… not for us down in the Midwest. It’s still so cold for the exception of some days when the sun is shining bright and it is just bright enough to warm you up. I’m really upset spring is not here yet.. Well even thought it’s not warm out these shoes make me believe the sun and clear blue skies means it is… Spring HURRY up.. Please!

I know spring is coming and with that being said we have to bring out our mellow colorful pieces. We want to be colorful but still keep it a little lighter than our summer days.. Or atleast I like to keep it that way. As you all may already know, I am a huge fan of sneakers!! (if you didn’t know, you have to follow along more often lol) Spring is my favorite season to wear light blue, idk why but it is. This outfit is the perfect combination between trying and not trying, chic and comfortable… and you should know already how much I love chic and comfortable (lol). The thing that caught my attention when looking at these sneakers were the color block. These Nike City Huaraches are just so different and the sleek design is super cool! Besides these sneakers being super cute they are OH SOO COMFORTABLE! The insole feels like walking on a cloud. At 5’5″ I consider myself short and with these thick thighs I look like I am. Never really consider that bulky shoes looked good on me, it just made me look wider. This time I decided to put my insecurities about bulky shoes aside and give them a try. They just really caught my eyes and I love them. Since I wanted to make the sneakers pop, my outfit was the simplest. It’s still cold out here so these black velvet joggers  are the best to keep my legs warm, plus it makes me feel like I’m wearing Juice Couture (where are my 90’s babies that lived through that fashion era!) when in reality I’m wearing Kmart. Like I said I love wearing lighter shades of color, I opted for this baby blue shirt with amazing quarter sleeves from H&M. Try something that makes you insecure, it’s the only way that we get over it and start living a carefree life!

Hola Chuladas,

Simplemente me encantaron.

A M O R [love]…

Hey Gals!

Guess what we are celebrating tomorrow?! If you are a busy bee, let me fill you in… Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day! Let me tell you a little secret. I wasn’t always the biggest fan of the day of L O V E. I just thought, why should people wait until this day to show their significant other to show them that they love them. Everyone goes all out for them this one day and the other 364 days??? I get it, one should not be expected to buy flowers to your partner or some diamond earing everyday but what you should do is show them how much you really are thankful for them. From experience even the smallest thing each day will be a great gesture for your loved one! I am not the doctor of love but I love when my partner would help me in the kitchen to make some food, took me to the movies expectantly, watched Netflix and drank some mikes or went out to dance just the two of us. Show that other person you appreciate them every day but on V-day make it just ones of those extra days you will show them much more love, don’t let this day be the only day to love them.

Enough of me rambling about L O V E. This ensemble is from none other than Kmart. Yes you heard right! Kmart has some cute stuff for your special events as well! I never really though I looked great in a one pieces but let me tell you the way this jumpsuit flows is perfect. You can dress it up for date night with your boo thang or to go out with your galantines! I l Love the details on this jumpsuit: the flowy cap sleeve give it character, the pleats on the front give the illusion of a more slender figure and the crossed/open back just looks so flirty! The shoes are from Kmart too and they are just so perfect. The design is very eye catching and the material mimics suede so of course it stands out more than usual. It’s the perfect combination of chic and sexy!

———————————————————————————————————————————-

Chuladas!

Summer to Winter Dresses

Hey there Gals,

It’s definitely winter here in Chicago, it’s freezing out! Let’s find out how I am doing my summer dresses into winter appropriates! It all has to do with how much layering you want to do. Since I get hot easily I didn’t want to overwhelm my outfit with lots of layers. For both outfits I chose a statement jacket. This is a fun way to upgrade your closet during the cold months. We all have those cute dresses we want to wear year-round, and these are mine.

The first outfit is based around this cute beige flower dress. It is the softest casual dress I’ve touched. It feels luxurious in some type of way (if that makes sense). I actually got this at the H&M Memorial Day sale, it was only $5! I had forgotten about it until I started cleaning my closet, and by then it was getting chilly outside. For this dress I wanted to bring out some of those earthy tones and make it brighter. I opted for this glittery rose gold bomber jacket. Since you can’t say winter without knee length boots, pairing them with these black ones was the way to go. It’s that perfect combination of chic and sexy! As far as my accessories I decided to incorporate a lighter shade of rose pink in my purse, and some gold and black necklaces for the earthy tones

The second outfit plays with color, so definitely for my gals that want to be a little adventurous. I find that glossy pink and burgundy look great together, which is exactly this outfit. The thing that I like most about the dress is its color. Glossy pink is the way to go, it reminds me of a pink winter wonder land! It’s a perfect outfit to welcome the Christmas count down. This burgundy jacket I paired it with had textured, which played on the brightness of the dress. It made it fun and flirty! I had to pair it with some chic ankle boots. They were gray with a pink flower pattern and matched perfectly with the color of the dress. To finish the look I wore the gold and black necklace to break off all the colors.

Gobble Gobble…

Hello Gals!

This week on the blog I’ll be sharing some of my thankful thoughts, and two last-minute Thanksgiving outfit ideas! Most of us get caught in our daily routine, that we forget to reflect on everything we have thus far. Thanksgiving is a reminder that we are almost done with the year, but no matter what has happened, or how we are going to end it we should always be Thankful. Appreciate everything we have, the lessons learned, and the memories made. This year I am thankful for everything that has been put in my path, good or bad, in which I have learned how to be stronger than I ever thought. What are you thankful for?

When I think of thanksgiving I always think of flowy dresses in rusty orange or red. I think my mami had a lot to do with this! She would always dress up my sister and I, even if we were staying home. Through the years I’ve found out that there are ways you can make other colors, prints and styles work for the occasion. I came up with two very different options for your Thanksgiving OOTD. My favorite one (and I think I love it more because it brings back memories of my mother dressing me up as a little girl) is the classy/chic dress outfit. This dress is soo comfy, you would not be able to tell from all the detailing. For curvier girls a synched waist always means it might not hug the right curves or it might divide your stomach in two (even if its elastic). This one sits right where you want it and it is not too tight or too loose. Also, long sleeves can be very traumatic specially when they have a ruffle detailing. If done wrong, you could end up looking like a little girl. This ruffle sleeve was done just right, flowy enough to mimic the trends going on right now, but not overly exaggerated. Another point that I loved about this dress is being able to be sexy and show skin with out being too much. It has a small split on the right leg and a v-cut neckline detailing. The dress had a nice and subtle print, I made sure to bring out the little bits of color it had with my accessories. I chose one of my favorite bold clutches’ from Call It Spring. This vibrant yellow purse brought out that same color from the leaves of the dress. Since I had already done a super bold color, for my necklace I chose a rose gold and white necklace and a gold and ivory pearl statement ring. To finish of the look, I paired this dress with an off gray open toe block heel. This heel is one of my favorites because it matches almost anything, it looks like a bootie and the best reason is you don’t get tired!

Where are my casual comfy gals at?? Remember how I told you my mami would dress me up even if we were staying home? Well as I grew older, if we were staying home I just wanted to be comfortable but pretty. So, I started wearing cute jeans with sweaters or nice shirts. This is where I drew inspiration for my casual option. This outfit is a little busier, because of the mix prints and colors, but if they are done right (according to Dlos’ Standards) it will look wonderful! I did say red reminded me of Thanksgiving, and here it is in my jeans. These are the most comfortable jeans I have bought at JCPenney. When choosing this outfit, I really wanted to incorporate my blanket scarf because that is a must for fall. Since this scarf has shades of red, green and yellow, I decided to add my favorite green and black bomber jacket. To offset all the similar shades, I chose this flowy white and black striped shirt and some super cute booties. They look like any ordinary boots but as soon as you turn around BAAMMM!! you get a little bit of cheetah pattern! This is a prime example that you can be bold even when wearing casual outfits. The technique of mixing cheetah and checkered patterns has been around for a while, so if you haven’t tried it out, this Thanksgiving give it a try

These options are both great for those Friendsgiving dinners, family Thanksgiving get-togethers or simply to stay at home. Which one will you choose this year?

Like always I wish you a great Thanksgiving with all your loved ones!

Hola Chulada!
